Bodhisattvas ~
A Bodhisattva is a being whose path is the attainment of enlightenment, not only for oneself, but for all living creatures. When a Bodhisattva reaches the seventh stage of spiritual development, one becomes transcendent or Mahasattva. Although the Bodhisattva has then achieved deliverance from the cycle of rebirth, compassion compels the Mahasattva to voluntarily stay in the existing world in order to pursue the redemption of all beings, destroying the burden of karma for others.

Shiva literally means "auspiciousness, welfare." He is the third god of the Hindu Triad following Brahma the creator and Vishnu the preserver, and is the destroyer of all evil. He represents transformation in the form of death, darkness, and destruction and the creation that follows. Therefore, Shiva represents the shedding of hold habits and the power of reproduction and restoration.

Shiva is identified with the Vedic god Rudra, lord of songs, sacrifices, nourishment, the healer of diseases and provider of property. Which Shiva is said to have five faces, correspond to his five tasks of creation, establishment, destruction, oblivion, and grace. His faces are also associated with the creation of the sacred syllable Om.
